I’ve been playing with my newest toy – an Asus 906 Eee PC. Not only was it on sale, but I was able to apply several discounts to it,and so got it for insanely cheap.
The salesclerk wasn’t very knowledgeable and he tried to talk down to me. He tried to tell me the only thing this Asus was good for was reading email. I told him it had a very good wordprocessor ,and he claimed it didn’t have one at all – and this after I had to explain to him that his store did indeed have a device called an “Asus”. He tried to tell me there was no such thing! When I showed it to him, that’s when he disparaged it – such a good salesperson, eh? Apparently, he’d rather spend 15 minutes on the phone discussing the differences between Wii and xBox than making a real sale.
I’ve been working with computers since before his parents were born!
Anyway, I have it now,and I like it.
The keyboard is, for me – a comfortable size. I can reach all the keys. The keys are in slightly different places and the spacebar requires a special touch, and I finally figured out where the missing “home” and “end” keys are. If you don’t hit the spacebar exactly in the middle with the right degree of force,it doesn’t work. But I’m getting used to it.
I think I will like it a lot once I find all the keys and functions
It came pre-loaded with all my favorite software, the programs I use daily: OpenOffice, Firefox, Gmail,an good anti-virus program, AdAware Plus, and a variety of translators and dictionaries.
It’s wireless capabilities are stronger than any other computer in this house – it picked up a dozen wireless networks where the most any other computer here picked up was 4.
OK, the spacebar is kind of annoying. I’ve hd to go back and add spaces in almost every sentence. Gah.
I will fix this.
