Fence

Filed under: Uncategorized — ebonypearl @ 5:35 pm

Last year, I replaced part of the neighbor’s stockade fence that was falling down. She refused to pay for any of it and even denied the fence was in need of replacement.

She runs a day care out of her house, and this fence is so rickety and fragile that I’ve been wiring it roping it up, and placing fence posts and wire stock fencing along it on my side just to help it out and to keep her day care kids from coming into my yard – which is not a child safe yard, what with the grill, firepit, gazebo, and wooden artwork in progress, not to mention the plants, some of which are toxic i their growing forms. I’ve done all I can to keep her fence working as a fence while I slowly replace it with a strong stockade fence on my side.

Even in my prime, putting up a stockade fence is hard work. I’ve been doing it 2 panels at a time.

There’s the back 7 panels I haven’t gotten to yet – a project for this spring and summer.

Apparently, I am going to get to them much sooner than I’d planned.

One entire panel fell down and the panels to either side of it are barely holding up.

Fortunately, I had the wire fence (not chain link, just wire) Already up. If the fence had fallen towards my yard, there would have been no problem the posts I have would have held it. But it didn’t. It fell into her yard – mostly, and in falling, it pulled part of my fencing up.

I spent most of the day re-seating the posts and re-attaching my fence. I had to push her fence off mine and into her yard. The two damaged but standing panels I wired to my fence posts.

But I will have to put up my own stockade fence as soon as possible.

It wouldn’t be as much of a rush if she wasn’t running a day care center. And if I didn’t have my son’s dogs back there for now.

I hate doing fences.
