Broken

I broke my sewing machine last night, when my youngest dropped in around 10:00 pm with a request that I sew a lot of straps together so they could make hanging chairs from them.

Being a compliant parent, I made them pin the straps exactly how they wanted them sewn, teased them, and then sewed the straps up.

On the very last strap, the fabric feeder lost itself. It no longer feeds fabric through, and the thread tangles up and snaps.

It’s not unfixably broke, it’s just broken during a weekend when I’d planned on sewing up a few things – and the place I take the machine to for adjustments and cleaning is closed until next Saturday.

So, no machine sewing for me this week.

Unless……I browse the internet and find out how to adust the fabric feeder myself.

If I can’t figure out how to do it myself, I have several other projects underway – the food onna stick cookbook, the paranormal romance I started writing, a variety of intersting polymer clay creations, and I have all the small acorns and other seeds and beads to string into jewelry. It’s not as if the only hobby and project I have going is the sewing.

There’s no reaon, no logical reason, to feel stifled and deprived just because one piece of equipment is temporarily broken and unusable.

None.

So, I’m going to go to the Super Target and browse instead of doing anything at all.

Today is the first day since the day before Thanksgiving that I feel comfortable going to the stores again.

I don’t need to buy anything other than a few groceries (I’m out of salt, and for those who know me well, they know what a tragedy that is). But it’ll be nice to look around and see what’s new. I can waste a couple of hours browsing.

Maybe that’ll cure me of the snit I’m in for breaking my sewing machine, and I’ll be able to settle down to some other project.
