Weather Patterns

Back on the 19th, I predicted that New Year’s Eve would be slushy, but the weather patterns have stalled, and I think instead, we’ll continue with weather that is sunny and 60’s clear through the first week of 2006. I’ve been out lecturing the rose bushes and trees not to bud out because if they do, they’ll regret it in a few weeks when cold weather returns.

They aren’t listening.

The snowdrops and irises are setting bloom buds anyway, and the redbud tree is starting to get a faint brownish maroon haze. When the ice storms of winter come raging down the plains, they’ll freeze up and wonder where the year went so fast.

And speaking of weather patterns, we’ve started working on creating the patterns we want for the OU Medieval Faire. We will make the weather be mostly sunny and upper 70’s-mid 80’s for the three days of the Faire, with some rain Saturday night so the dust settles. The wind we will let blow as it will, because we’ve learned that working too closely with the wind causes it to rebel in spectacular ways. The Thursday before the Faire will have wind and rain, one last burst before the Faire starts so the Faire itself has nice weather.

Now, we’ll see how well our weatherworking is.
