I’ve contacted both of the people in our state and region who are supposedly the ones in charge of the the Citizen Corps and CERT and have yet to receive any response from either of them.

I have had CERT training – not the “official” CERT training, but all of the training they offer would be less than refresher courses for me, as I’ve already done them all and been using those skills in the survival courses I teach and in the search and rescue work I do with a different group.

I have been wanting to get the connections with the official government survival groups since they were founded, and have yet to make a two-way connection with anyone in them.

I don’t know if the failing is on my side, or theirs.

If it’s on their side, it makes me wonder if I really do want to be associated with them? Communication is a key component of community survival, and the Citizen Corps and CERT are supposed to both be about community survival. If they fail at this, how will our local branches of these agencies fare in a real emergency?
