Most computer games leave me wondering – why? I don’t get them, I don’t care for most of them – Sims, WoW, EverQuest., Second Life..not my thing.
I’ve loved Pong, Tetris, BreakOut, and similar games, and boardgames adapted to the computer like Othello, Mah Jongg, Solitare, but yeah, most computer games, especially the massively multiple player online role-playing games.
Spore, however, looks to be a game right up my alley – a massively single player online game. Apparently, in on-line gaming, I don’t play well with others. I get impatient waiting for them to play and because I have such a limited amount of time on the computer that’s connected to the internet, I probably aggravate other players by my own irregular hours. A game I can play where I don’t have to make others wait on me (or wait on them) seems ideal to me.
Plus – you get to create worlds and spaceships and alien ecologies and aliens. You aren’t limited to existing mythologies and this world.
I think I iwll like it.
Of course, I’ll have to upgrade my computer – more RAM, a new video card, a faster processor…but I’m keeping XP.

definitely keep xp until steve ballmer comes to your house and personally rips it out of your cold dead hands….

MMOs mystify me. To me, video games is something you do when you don’t want to mess with other people and gamers are infamously anti-social. Ergo, designing really cool games that *require* group interaction to complete the game frustrates me. There’s one particular MMO I really dig but I refuse – refuse! – to play with others. So I’ve gone as far as I can in that game, which isn’t even half way I think. I shall have to check out Spore.
On a side note, I hope you like the petticoat tails I got for you. When we have a proper visit together, you can pick out your rocks. I know you like rocks from various places so we picked up several, and labeled exactly where they came from. You can choose some from your favorite spots. 🙂
